There were originally 10 member organistaions. Our vision can be summarised as follows:
Our desire is to serve Jesus Christ by serving the people who call us.
Our purposes are:
1) To empower and enable Christian Helplines in the UK to establish good practice and standards in the delivery of the services they offer.
A Christian helpline is defined as one that can agree with the policies in this document and are underpinned by a Christian worldview, so that each helpline can achieve and maintain a standard that ensures a minimum quality of delivery and staffing.
2) To enable members of the Association to explore collaborative projects together.
3) To meet together to support, encourage and pray for each other.
4) To provide resources to others wishing to establish new Christian Helplines
In 2006 we introduced a nominal annual membership fee of £25/year. We curently have 8 member organisations. This is our only source of income to maintain our web presence and to pay expenses for any speakers we invite to our meetings. The running costs for the helplines are the individual responsibility of the member organisations. How to support these can be found on their web sites - LINKS
Donations can be made to the Christian Helplines Association - see CONTACT page or direct to our bank account: LloydsTSB Account No: 11898660 Sort Code: 77-07-09
We welcome new members whether they are operating a full Christian helpline service or a prayer line service provided they can agree with our Policy Documents(Revised Version July 2007)
Representatives of CHA member organisations meet up to 4 times a year. This constitutes an executive/member partnership meeting. These meetigns enable effective networking between Christian Helplines & Prayer Lines in the UK.
Since 2004 the CHA has set up the potential for Call Sharing through a common number on 0845 33 77 789. There is also an accredited training programme of 20 hours avaialble for any interested in training as listeners. This can be provided in different areas of the country provided at least 10 people are willing to train.
